PPAG attends High Level Political Forum 2019
PPAG participated in the 2019 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) which took place at the UN Headquarters, in New York. Prior to this, PPAG participated in the in-county meetings that drafted the country statements. The HLPF is UN’s central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provides for the full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies. The 2019 HLFP took place in July and it was under the theme, “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality“. The Forum focused on six (6) SDG goals and these are:

Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries

Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
Ghana, for the first time, since the inception of the SDGs, was peer reviewed. The Ghana CSOs Platform on SDGs, of which PPAG is a leading member, developed and also presented the shadow report on the status of implementation of the SDGs in Ghana.
