PPAG HONOURED AT THE 33RD CIMG ANNUAL NATIONAL MARKETING PERFORMANCE AWARDS AS NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR
Success indeed does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. This is the description of the night filled with fulfilment and pride as the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) was adjudged the ‘Not for Profit Organisation’ of the year at the 2022 Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana Performance Awards. This award was in recognition of PPAG’s innovations in providing Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services.
Receiving the prestigious award, the President of the Association Mr. Gideon Leckson-Leckey noted that he is proud of the recognition conferred on PPAG and by extension on staff, volunteers, Donors and partners of over 55 years of PPAG’s existence. He remarked that, this recognition will spur the Association on to continue to deliver its core mandate of providing SRHR information and services to all people in Ghana especially the young and vulnerable towards enhancing the quality of life. He also called on the media, corporate bodies and individuals to join hands with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) to enhance quality of life of women, girls and other vulnerable people. He thanked the governing council of the CIMG, the research team and the team of evaluators for such a recognition, coming at an important time in the life of the PPAG.
The President of the CIMG, Dr Daniel Kasser Tee in his remarks noted that, in view of the current global economic hardship, organisations have thrived and rationalised their operations to be able to protect the interest of employees, clients and donors.
The CIMG recognises the continuous and innovative means through which PPAG with support from its donors and partners, provides unhindered access to SRHR information and services to young improve the quality of life.
In recognising the achievement of PPAG, the CIMG in their citation wrote,” …. it is heart-warming that since the inception of PPAG’s initiatives, there has been a massive reduction in the number of recorded cases of child marriage and in many communities, no recorded cases at all. Assessors therefore have taken notice of these successes and have duly conferred on PLANNED PARENTHOOD ASSOCIATION OF GHANA(PPAG) THE CIMG NOT-FOR-PROFIT MAKING ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR, 2021”.
PPAG, as a not for profit is driven by our commitment to provide comprehensive SRHR information and services to all people in Ghana especially the young and vulnerable to ensure quality of life, and this the CIMG believes, PPAG has gone every length and breadth to achieve.
Over the past years, PPAG has employed Advocacy, providing safe spaces for young people through our Youth centers and resources, Community Mobilization, information and education and service delivery as strategies to deliver on its mandate. PPAG has initiated and been part of the development of national strategic policies and implementation, including the inclusion of Family Planning into NHIS, National Youth Policy, adolescent reproductive health policy, national HIV & AIDS strategic plan, strategic plan to address adolescent pregnancy, and others. Its Young & Wise centers are youth friendly coupled with serving thousands of Ghanaians with SRHR information and services annually.
The event which saw over 40 companies and individuals receiving awards in various categories in respect of their performance in the 2021 financial year. It was held at the plush Labadi Pleasure Beach Hotel in Accra, under theme “Creative Marketing and Innovation in a Volatile Global Economy”
