STATEMENT MADE BY OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MADAM ABENA ADUBEA AMOAH ON BEHALF OF CSOS AT GHANA’S FP2030
STATEMENT MADE BY OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MADAM ABENA ADUBEA AMOAH ON BEHALF OF CSOS AT GHANA’S FP2030 COMMITMENTS LAUNCH IN ACCRA.
For the past 56 years, PPAG has advanced Family Planning programming from education to service delivery and continues to demonstrate the need for increased investment and interest in family planning programming in Ghana. As time pass by, the CSOs space has seen increased growth in the number of CSOs and organisations joining the movement to advance FP. It is with delight that as the FP2030 CSOs Focal Point, on behalf of all the CSOs advancing family planning across the country, especially hard-to-reach communities and marginalised groups, we continue with this new FP partnership from FP2020 and look forward to reducing the unmet need for FP and ensuring equitable access to quality family planning services to all Ghanaians.
We continue to count on all, especially our development partners, government, and youth groups, and we especially wish to extend an important invitation to the private sector to support this movement.
I end my statement with a quote from Dr Samukelise Dube, the Executive Director of FP2030 who said, “Data indicate an increase in contraceptive uptake in Africa compared to the uptake situation many years ago. However, it only tells a part of the story about family planning. Think about the lives saved, the students enabled to continue school, and women enabled to retain their jobs and plan their careers, governments’ investments etc” All these have demonstrated that it is beyond mere statistics but the quality it adds to the lives of women and girls, men and boys of reproductive age and the impact on nations.
On behalf of CSOs working in the FP and reproductive health space, I wish to state our committement to this new partnership and promise to continue to play critical roles in achieving all the commitments going into 2030.
Thank you.
